RRWRD - GPS Data

The Rock River Water Reclamation District is a participating member of the National Geodetic Survey's Cooperative CORS (Continuously Operating Reference Station) network.

The National Geodetic Survey (NGS), an office of NOAA's National Ocean Service, coordinates a network of continuously operating reference stations (CORS) that provide Global Positioning System (GPS) carrier phase and code range measurements in support of 3-dimensional positioning activities throughout the United States and its territories.

Surveyors, GIS/LIS professionals, engineers, scientists, and others can apply CORS data to position points at which GPS data have been collected. The CORS system enables positioning accuracies that approach a few centimeters relative to the National Spatial Reference System, both horizontally and vertically.

Data is provided by the RRWRD web site by adhering to the following criteria:

Receiver / Antenna is a least dual frequency (L1 and L2)
Receiver tracks a least eight satellites above 10 degrees
Receiver provides L1 C/A-code psuedorange or P-code psuedorange
Receiver provides L1 full wavlength carrier phase
Receive provides L2 full wavelength carrier phase
Receiver provides psuedorange precision to better than 0.5 meter RMS
Antenna has NGS phase center variability model available
(Calibration Information)
Antenna is capable of maintaining 1-cm stability
Data is freely available for distribution
Data is recorded on a 30-second or shorter interval
Provider has on-site Internet access
Provider maintains all equipment
Provider agrees to adopt positional coordinates sanctioned by NGS
